St. Joseph’s Convent (Estd. Feb 17, 1999)
Bishop Sebastian Vadakel invited to Ujjain diocese to do service for the mentally challenged children. As per the invitation, the first members Sr. Christy (Superior), Sr.Tresa Jose and Sr.Tincy started to stay in an Adoration Convent at Chandhessery to study local language and culture. In June 24th 1999 they started to say in an old Diocesan’s building at Shajapur and started a school for the Mentally challenged children. The foundation stone of the convent was laid on 24th September 2001 by Mar Gregory Karotemprel CMI, Bishop of Rajkot. Rev. Fr. Jacob Tharakkunnel spent his time and energy to supervise the construction work. The blessing of the newly constructed convent was on 24th June 2002 by Bishop Mar Sebastian Vadakel. Due the constructive support and encouragement of Bishop, fathers and sisters, our sisters are able to work very happily and satisfactorily over there. Srs. Tresa Jose, Tincy, Little Tresa, Daya are the former Superiors and now Sr.Anatsy is the superior of this Convent.
