At the request of the parish council, Mar Thomas Tharayil, the Bishop of Kottayam sent Srs. Francis, Anselm, Beatrice and Gloria to Areekara on June 1, 1965 to be on the staff of St. Rockey’s U.P. School. Although the Sisters started staying in a house belonging to Mr. Esthappan Ulakumpuzha, owing to the inconvenience they moved in the very next day to the house of Mrs. Mariachy Kaniamkudilil.
The foundation stone of the present Convent was laid on November 1, 1965 by Bishop Mar Thomas Tharayil. He blessed and inaugurated the Convent on March 19, 1966. The help of Rev. Fr. Philip Chemmalakuzhyil, the then Vicar and the financial support of the parishioners have contributed to the construction of this Convent. Later an extension of the building, including the present chapel was made. It was blessed on December 18, 1977 by Bishop Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry. The foundation stone of the reconstructed convent was laid on December 8, 2018 and blessed on December 1, 2019 by His Grace Mar Mathew Moolakkatt.
The former Superiors of the Convent are Srs. Francis, Benjamin, Theophane, Grace, Stanislaus, Mettilda, Gloria, Anselm, Jenet, Reena Therese, Angel, Lisia, Deepa, Lincy Treesa, Pushpa, Lucina, Celin Jose Karuna and Sr. Ushas . At present, Sr. Regis is the superior of this convent.
